Sumac directory

In response to the notion of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” in the time of resources scarcity; the project aims to facilitate the contemporary transition phase from now with the surplus of plastic bags and phone books until consumption is reduced.

The project started as a bean bag filled with plastic bags folded in a way to form beans. The notion is then extended to another material – using phone books as a building material. A load bearing phone book wall module is developed through a series of 1:1 and scaled prototype and is applied in the conceptual design of the extension of Sumac community centre.
